How to be Healthier #5: Drink more Tea!

Tea.  It is delightful.  Especially during a Minnesota snowy winter.  It’s also very calming.  Much like the red wine I prefer… So, replace those late weeknight beers or glasses of red wine with some green tea, herbal tea, goodnight sleepy tea, any tea will do really (except iced tea. YUCK!  i cannot stand iced tea).  There are all sorts of antioxidants, calming and soothing  effects on the mind and other reasons that cause tea drinking to be so healthy.  For me, it would be the replacing beer with tea that would lead to the healthiest effects on my life.  No one NEEDS a beer late at night before going to sleep!  But tea, ah tea… everyone NEEDS a tea.

To worry, or not to worry, that is the question

So. I think it might be better. I’m told that I need a plan. I think, however, that before this was said, I already had developed a plan.  My New Year’s Resolution is to BE HEALTHIER on all levels.  I know that if I can make this happen, I will be happier with myself.  If I am happy with myself, I can be happy with my life and with everyone in my life.  Right? Right.

Hula Hoops and Hopes

It is 2013 now, and wow did i start the year off with a bang!  A horrible, awful, me freaking out at my boyfriend and friend for no reason bang.  Damnit… and i thought this was going to be the best year yet!  Now what?  Is the whole year doomed based solely on that fateful New Year’s Eve 1am loss of all sensible reasoning?  Or can 2013 still be the best year yet? I’m waiting on some forgiveness from the aforementioned parties, but have high hopes that it will come (and crossed fingers).  

Something is wrong.  Something is wrong if i am perfectly happy one instant, and then the next screaming and crying for no one knows what reason at all.  Once he said to me, “it’s like you don’t want to be happy.  Whenever you are happy you find something to be mad about.  I don’t think you know how to be happy.”  Could this be true?  Could i be internally refusing happiness.  Do i deserve to be happy?  Yes.  Do i know that i deserve to be happy?  On the inside?  Do i really know it and believe it?  Hmmm… maybe he was on to something.

So,

Let’s get happy!  

Ways to do this: 

  • Hula Hooping-it is fabulous and fun
  • Working Out-you will feel better about yourself. it’s important that you can be motivated to be healthy and you’ll look sexier too
  • Eating Better-less fried food, less pizza, less beer, more salads! YUM! see previous comment about being healthy and sexier
  • Positive Attitude-fake smile, fake laugh, fake happiness until it becomes real. this will work right?  at least just, try to drop some of the negative thoughts, bitchings and complaints.  be more positive, DAMNIT!
  • Be a Better Mentor-i am a mentor. i teach others how to think and how to learn. i teach others how to teach. practice more patience, be more understanding, learning takes time.
  • Clean your Apartment-and keep it clean, please!  i’ve been working on this one since i was in high school.
  • Write-that’s why there’s this blogging happening right now. you will feel better if you write it down (type it up?)
  • Be a Listener-stop waiting for the interesting thing you have to say and listen. listen and support and care.
  • Love. 

 

These are not resolutions.  These are the things i need to do so that i can be happy with myself.  If i am happy with myself, mayhaps this outburst of crazy proportions will be a one-hit-wonder.  I don’t ever want to be that way again.  My hope for today is that I am not starting out a brand new year a best friend and a boyfriend short because of my actions and my words.  I will find my happy.
